Hi everyone, as many of you know, our mother, Cindy Lackey, was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor in July of this year.
The tumor was a Glioblastoma, which is an aggressive type of cancer that can occur in the brain or spinal cord. Glioblastoma forms from cells called astrocytes that support nerve cells. Glioblastoma can occur at any age, but tends to occur more often in older adults. It can cause worsening headaches, nausea, vomiting and seizures. She has experienced many of these symptoms and thankfully her current medications are keeping them at bay.
She has undergone brain surgery to remove the tumor, radiation to the site, and oral chemo for 6 weeks, and is now waiting to start Optune. Optune is a wearable, portable, FDA-approved device indicated to treat a type of brain cancer called glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). She will wear this device for 6 months or more for 18 plus hours a day.
Her vision was greatly affected by the tumor, and she currently cannot drive due to it. She was working as a full-time hospice nurse when she was diagnosed. My dad (Terry Lackey) has been her rock and a great caregiver through it all!
My mom is loved and cared for by many!!! She is a wonderful mom to us 3 (Jessica Whitmore, Myself -Renee Stinson, and Lyndsey Mccormick) and a great “Lolli” to her 5 grandchildren! So many prayers are going up on her behalf! And we are so grateful for everything and all the support she has received.
The go fund me account was started to help
support them, pay medical bills, and go toward the cost of her healthcare deductible that will start all over in January 2023.
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5, NIV)
We love you all! And Thank you!
