Support Cindy Parr's Stroke Recovery Journey
Donation protected
On Friday, June 7th, my mom, Cindy Parr, suffered a stroke. She was rushed to OSF hospital by ambulance, exhibiting symptoms of extreme dizziness, vomiting, fatigue, sweating, and high blood sugar. After multiple scans in the ER, the doctors confirmed that she had a stroke affecting the right cerebellum, the part of the brain that controls balance, motion, and coordination.
Cindy was admitted to the neuro ICU the following day. Her condition is being monitored closely due to some brain swelling, which is common after a stroke. She remains in the ICU, but the medical team is hopeful that she will be moved to a regular room soon. However, her journey to recovery is just beginning. Cindy will require occupational therapy both during her hospital stay and after her discharge to regain her strength and mobility.
The average cost of hospital care for a stroke patient ranges from $20,396 to $43,652. Unfortunately, my parents do not have health insurance and are not in a financial position to afford these overwhelming medical expenses. They have no major assets to rely on and are already struggling to manage their existing debts and ongoing living expenses. On top of that, they frequently support me (their daughter) since I'm not financially independent. (Jen and I'm autistic with multiple disabilities and live with my parents.)
We are reaching out to our community, friends, and kind-hearted strangers for help. Any donation, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in covering Cindy's medical bills and ensuring she receives the care she needs to recover. We are deeply grateful for your prayers, generosity, and kindness.
With heartfelt thanks,
Jen Parr
