Support Claudia's Mom in Her Cancer Battle

Hello Everyone, My name is Claudia and I am coming to you all with a huge and difficult request, but first let me tell you where my anxiety and desperation stems from.

I am here to ask for help for my mother whom is currently fighting breast cancer.

In 2017 my parents were offered an opportunity to better their lives by immigrating to America.

My parents never having left their small village in Northern Portugal felt they couldn't pass up this big opportunity and packed up their bags and made the move over to New Jersey from Portugal with hopes of paving a path for a better retirement.

Fast forward to 2024 and my parents start to make plans to head back at the end of the year for good back to Portugal to enjoy their retirement years as they are now of age to start their retirement. With all plans in place they sent their belongings to Portugal leaving the bare minimum behind so once October rolls around they would be ready to head back for good.

My mom was born with a vision problem that made her legally blind therefore she has always been a housewife and unable to work. This year at age 56, at a routine mammogram in May she receives the worst news imaginable, that she has breast cancer that would require surgery with chemotherapy and radiation treatments to follow. During the start of her treatment course my father gets sick with pneumonia and after missing a few weeks of work loses his job.

So at this point, their battle is not only with fighting cancer but also surviving with only their savings. They are making insurance payments out of pocket plus their daily cost of living (ie: groceries, travel to and from doctors appts, co-pays, rent etc ) and there savings are quickly dwindling.

My mother's treatment plan is until February 2025 and we are trying to have my parents stay here in NJ until at least the end of her treatments so they can hopefully return to Portugal as they were planning and this has simply been a detour in their initial plans after this difficult trial in their life.

I would appreciate any help anyone could provide whether larger or small any contribution you could find in your hearts to help with would be graciously accepted, so together we can state: MY MOM BEAT THE CANCER!
