Support Our Team Competing at Odyssey of the Mind WORLDS!

We need your help to get our team to Odyssey of the Mind WORLDS competition at Michigan State University May 21-24!!

Our Team CitySurf placed FIRST at States competition in Jacksonville, NC which gives us the opportunity to compete with teams from all around the World!! But we need your help to get there! Please take a quick minute to read our story.

What is Odyssey of the Mind? OM is a student-led, creative problem-solving competition where a team of up to 7 members works within a tight budget determined by OM to find an outside-the-box solution to a problem.

OM is an amazing program that teaches teamwork, budgeting, creativity, perseverance and success through the art of failure and problem solving.

Our team created a hilarious 8 minute skit, built our own robot named Sire Purr -- a pet panther for one of the characters, Queen Charlotte, and built a castle set made up of mostly cardboard, upcycled and recycled "trash," blinds, and garage racks!!

Our team is made up of 6 Piedmont IB Middle students (Agatha, Anlyn, Elle, Jada, Luke and Taha) and 1 Irwin Academic student (Jane) -- all CMS students. Despite the incredible talent our team has, three of our teammates were left off our school's team this year, which is how our team came to be. Unfortunately, many schools don't always have the room for all of the creative and talented kids to be able to participate. So two of our moms, Melanie and Jocie, did some real-life, creative problem-solving themselves to address this issue by creating Team CitySurf (our sponsor) and became our OM coaches. We met at Melanie's house every Tuesday and Sunday and went to work to make the most of the incredible opportunity they provided for us.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!

Although our team is all CMS students, we found out that CMS will NOT pay for ANY of our trip to Worlds, which they do for all of their CMS teams. This means we have to cover airfare, room/board to stay in the dorms at competition, pay registration fees, and get a U-Haul to take our awesome castle set from Charlotte to Michigan! This adds up to a little more than $1,000 per student and coaches. Even if we can't cover all our costs, anything helps.
