Support Coach Brendan Moran's Road to Recovery

To Our Lakewood Ranch Chargers Family, Friends and Community,

As many of you may already know, our incredible Coach Brendan Moran suffered a sudden and severe medical event on Thursday, March 14th when Brendan experienced a ruptured brain aneurysm, leading to a hemorrhagic stroke.

Brendan has been an integral part of our community since he and his family moved from Chicago about a decade ago. As the Youth Academy Director and coach for two teams, his dedication to the sport and his players knows no bounds. His passion for coaching the younger age groups, helping them develop into skilled soccer players, is matched only by his kindness and patience.

Brendan's daughter, a senior at Lakewood Ranch High School and also a member of the soccer club, discovered her father had suffered a medical emergency. Her quick thinking and immediate action in seeking medical help likely saved her father's life. Brendan was swiftly airlifted to Tampa General Hospital, where he underwent a craniotomy to halt the bleeding in his brain.

While the surgery was successful, Brendan now faces a long and arduous road to recovery. He remains in the ICU, under close monitoring by his medical team. The exact extent of the damage to his brain from the subarachnoid hemorrhage is still uncertain, but he has shown improvement in the past week. Doctors are optimistic that he will remain on this path over the next several months and stress the importance of intensive physical rehab therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy to help him relearn everyday skills.

Brendan's family has not left his side since Thursday and are staying with him overnight at the hospital or nearby hotels.
