Support Colby’s Family

It is a parent's worst nightmare. Discovering that your child is sick with a life-threatening illness. Even worse to hear the dreaded diagnosis of cancer. This became the reality for Colby and his family in 2015. He was only 6 years old when he was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma. During his first battle, Colby endured surgery, 6 weeks of radiation and 9 months of chemo. Through his courage, determination and the staff of UCSF, he beat cancer.
For 5 years, Colby was in remission. He was doing well and had returned to being a normal kid. Unfortunately, life would be interrupted again by another diagnosis in December 2020. This time, Undifferentiated Sarcoma were the words from the doctors. During this battle, Colby has endured two major surgeries, two rounds of radiation, three different chemo therapies and currently immunotherapy combined with an oral chemo. Tim and Hillery were recently told that they had reached the end of treatment options at UCSF. This has been devastating news to these incredible parents. Now they are walking the road of processing this information and helping their kids process. They choose to speak life so we ask that you please respect their wishes and not speak of these things around Colby or Sadie.
As you can imagine, a cancer diagnosis flips the entire family's life upside down. This time is no different. From the costs of travel, medical care, missed days at work and the recurring household bills, the relational and financial stress and burden can't be overstated. This is why we are coming to you now.
There is an immediate need to support this family. The Arnett Family needs your help. Below is a list of expenses that need your funding:
- The ability to seek further treatment options in the United States.
- The funding of substitute teachers so Tim can be present with his family. Sadie still needs her dad and mom. She still needs some normalcy which comes through presence and time with her parents.
- The ability to continue coverage of their health insurance which is tied to his employment.
- The ability to maximize the remaining time with their family. Colby has a wish list of places to see including a few National Parks. This one is about making positive memories in the shadow of unimaginable circumstances.
I know you get asked everyday from a thousand different organizations to give and support important causes. However, as people who can tell you from first hand experience, when you give to a family in a moment like this, it allows them to focus on their son and their family and the burdens of bills and expenses don't go away but they are diminished allowing them the bandwidth to be present with each other. This is all you seek in moments like this...more time, more memories, more moments and more chances to show love and share the bond with your child.
The Arnett Family asks you to please give. Please share this page near, far and wide.
With hearts full of gratitude for your love and support,
Tim, Hillery, Colby and Sadie
