Support Cole's Heart Surgery Journey

I have had the pleasure of being Lindsey’s friend since we were in 7th grade. She’s as good as they come. I’ve only gotten to know Tony over the past few years, but what a good soul he is!

If you know Lindsey and Tony, you know how they are the 'givers' of the world. They give their time, attention, prayers, love, and even money to others who are in need. And they foster dogs, for Pete’s sake.

Now, though, Lindsey and Tony need our help.

They are welcoming a son, Cole into the world later this month. What should be a time of joyful anticipation (mixed in with

normal anxieties of course) instead is a time of joy mixed in with a ton of uncertainties and scary realities.

Cole has two congenital heart defects: D-transposition of the great arteries (DTGA) and a small ventricular septal defect (VSD). Immediately after delivery, Cole will be transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. Tony will follow the ambulance to CHOA to stay with Cole and provide necessary authorizations for Cole’s care. Lindsey will stay at the delivery hospital (Northside Atlanta) for her recovery and will be transported by her sister to CHOA upon discharge. Cole’s arterial switch operation to correct the DTGA will be scheduled within a week of his arrival at CHOA. He will remain in the CICU at CHOA for 2-3 weeks for monitoring post op. The long-term outlook, post corrective open-heart surgery, is overwhelmingly positive.
