Support 'Common Ground' Short Film

Donation protected
Dear Friends, Supporters, and Fellow Storytellers,

I am raising funds for my upcoming short film Common Ground. Amid growing division and uncertainty in our world, this film is an opportunity to create something meaningful—a hopeful and powerful film, that speaks to the cultural tensions of today while exploring the universal desire for understanding and connection.

Set in a richly imagined yet wholly fictional society, Common Ground is a short film about two boys from differing communities who forge an unlikely friendship in a world governed by tradition, division, and deeply rooted mistrust. Their neighbouring societies have been at odds with each other for generations, separated by conflicting customs, beliefs, and ways of life. When one of boys unearths an ancient artifact buried beneath their school, it sets off a chain of events that forces them both to question everything they’ve been taught. As they dig deeper, unsettling truths begin to surface—truths that challenge the very foundation of their world. In a place where division is doctrine, uncovering the past comes at a cost.

Common Ground is a meditation on inherited prejudice, the manipulation of history, and the quiet, rebellious force of human connection. At its core, this is a story of friendship, defiance, and the courage, to seek truth in a world built on inherited stigma

Where Your Contributions Will Go

We have already secured two small grants, as well as some personal funding, but in order to bring this film to life, we need additional support. Our goal is to raise $17,500 which will go directly toward:

Production Costs – Equipment, locations, and set design to create the distinct, immersive world of the film.

Cast & Crew – Ensuring fair compensation for the talented individuals who will bring this story to life.

Costumes & Props – Subtly designed details that reflect the ideological divide between the communities.

Film Stock & Processing – We are shooting on 35mm film to enhance the tactile, timeless aesthetic of the story.

Post-Production – Editing, color grading, and sound design to craft the film’s final vision.

Festival Submissions – Expanding the reach of Common Ground and sharing its message with audiences worldwide.

Special Donor Recognition

We want to recognize those who help us make this project a reality:

Donations of $1,000+ will be credited as Executive Producers and receive special behind-the-scenes updates and early screenings.

How You Can Help

Every contribution—big or small—makes a huge difference. If you can’t donate, you can still support us by sharing this campaign with friends, family, and film lovers who believe in the power of storytelling.

By contributing, you're supporting a film that aims to spark conversation, invite different perspectives, and explore the impact of truth in a world shaped by division.

Let’s tell a story that lingers, that unsettles, and that reminds us that even the smallest acts of defiance can matter.

Join Us in Making Common Ground.

Thank you for believing in this project. We can’t wait to bring it to life with your help!

With gratitude,

Elisa
