Support Community Recovery in Fairview, NC after Helene
Donation protected
Hello friends and family. We are Dan and SJ Casciato. We've stewarded the land here along Cane Creek since our arrival in 2021, caring for the watershed, the forest, and greater ecology here.
Our home and community along Old Fort Road in Fairview, Western North Carolina, was significantly impacted by Hurricane Helene. Our home insurance and FEMA will not cover anywhere near the amount of capital it will take to get things back to a place of semi-normalcy. Not for us, or our neighbors along Cane Creek.
Emergency funds do not cover the massive landslide cleanups, numerous large tree removals, machine rental and time, literal tons of debris and trash removal, stream bank restoration, and structure/vehicle removal from the river bank, or the cost of educating our communities children while schools are closed.
We are supporting our communities's educators and students by sourcing and paying teachers & caregivers to provide interim educational care for the next few weeks and even months. We continue to support of our children's schools even while they are unable to provide services.
We are also pooling our resources to care for the shared water ways, and will need many machines, many hours of labor, and many open hearts to heal and repair the complete destruction that many of us now live with each day... everywhere we look.
If you, or someone you know is resourced and generous, we could really use your help.
Thank you!!
