With New Shoots Comes New Growth
This past fall has been a season of change here at Consider Bardwell Farm. After
fifteen years of building our nationally respected and successful brand, we ceased
production and sales due to the collapse of our financial resources as a result of the voluntary recall of our washed-rind cheeses. This misfortune forced us to lay off staff who have become part of our family and has prevented us from continuing some important partnerships in our community. But no one was made ill or worse, for which we are very thankful.
Consider Bardwell Farm is looking for funding help to reopen the business on a smaller scale, perhaps making only three of our cheeses, as well as resuming two collaborations. All this comes at a price: we must still buy grain and supplies for our dairy goats. They are due to be bred shortly to provide milk flow in the spring of 2020, beginning a new cycle of milk for cheese production. Our goat herd manager must be paid, and at kidding time and milking season she will need solid help.
The events of this fall have resulted in our inability to make the necessary changes to
the facility on our own. With the help of those who have enjoyed our cheeses and support our dedication to sustainable farming, we can reopen!
To reopen the production area and cheese caves, we need:
- To be able to rehire staff
- To be able to purchase cow milk of the highest quality
- To make some equipment purchases for the facility
- To recreate sales channels
Thank you for your support and your kind words during this time of transition.
We hope to see you again in the Spring!
