Support Corina's Battle with Tinnitus

Hello,

My name is Corina Curry and i was just diagnosed with severe Tinnitus after having a TIA, Im also waiting to see if i have MS. I am a nurse and this is very hard for me to put out there and tell everyone my personal business. I am a private person and always try to be positive but to be frank, this is a debilitating, crippling diagnosis. After always being in control and handling things myself i find myself in a very difficult position. I will need hearing aides that i just cant afford after being out of work and medical bills. I appreciate and love my family, all my friends and nurse coworkers for trying to keep me sane. For those not familiar with Tinnitus, it can be a very serious hurdle to get over as it has no cure. It effects your fight or flight system and increases any anxiety or stress you have. Who doesn't have major stress and anxiety in their life. I recently had to put my 16yr old dog down followed by vehicle repairs and feet issues. I hope if you know someone with this diagnosis, you help them anyway you can. Let me say thank you in advance for taking the time to read my story. I want to increase awareness to this diagnoses. The fear and anxiety it produces can be overwhelming. Some facts on Tinnitus : 9% of woman and 5.5% of men with severe Tinnitus try to commit suicide. Tinnitus was associated with 68% increased risk of developing early onset dementia. The cause of Tinnitus is unknown. Some of the ways to aide in comfort for Tinnitus is CBT, sound therapy and hearing aides.
