Support Cory Alvarez's Fight Against Cancer

Dear Friends, Family, or those who have known Cory & Melanie Alvarez,

We are reaching out to let you know that our sweet Uncle Coco (Cory) has been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that has metastasized to multiple lymph nodes, his liver, his diaphragm, and the lining of his lungs. The tumor load in his liver is pervasive in both lobes. “Inumerable necrotic metastases” is what we got back on his recent PET scan results. Right now he is not a candidate for surgery. He has started chemotherapy and monoclonal antibodies and we are waiting to see how the tumors in his liver are affected.

Many of you know Cory as a loving husband to Melanie and father to their two children, Theo and Jamie. Our Aunt Melanie has worked at Learning Gate teaching so many children in our community for going on 15 years. Unfortunately, a teacher's salary can only go so far in aiding what will be thousands of dollars worth of medical bills, along with providing whatever else the family will need during this troubling time. Melanie is almost out of personal days at work as well. Therefore, any extra financial security to cover the unprecedented days she will need to take off work to be with Cory, would be a blessing.

With this devastating diagnosis, we know Cory and our family are facing a challenging journey ahead. We are reaching out to our community, friends, and anyone with a compassionate heart to join us in supporting the Alvarez family during this difficult time.
