Support COVID heroes

I’m raising money for the internal medicine resident doctors in my home program, Robert Wood Johnson, located in New Brunswick, NJ. I invite you all to support them, too. The money raised will go toward buying food and medical supplies for the residents. New Jersey has been the second-hardest-hit state in the country. Yet, my former colleagues have soldiered on, their brave attitudes and game faces concealing their own fears and worries. This is the program that trained me, and I am so proud of them.
During intern year, the first year of a doctor’s training, we often hear this truism: “The days are long, but the years are short.” At this moment, during this herculean fight against COVID-19, the days have stretched to become the longest in recent memory. Residents, like all other front-line workers, are performing untold sacrifices in the service of their nation. They routinely work 18-24 hour shifts, foregoing food and sleep. They labor faithfully, for minimum wage, to help save someone else’s parent, grandparent, spouse, or child, while their own families pray for their safety at home. Some are pregnant. Some have newborns. Some live alone, fighting the good fight in solitude. Each is a hero.
And don’t forget to #stayhome to #beatcovid
