The Cheyenne River Grassroots Collective is made up of indigenous community organizers who advocate and fight for social and environmental justice. Our work strives to empower, educate, train, and protect future indigenous leaders in Cheyenne River Lakota communities.
Our duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Amplification of indigenous voices, causes, and ideas
Non-violent direct action and training
Asserting and Enforcing Treaty Rights and Laws
Informing local communities of environmental threats
Monitoring of extraction company projects
Creative Art Resistance (Banners, signs, digital art)
Organizing rallies, marches, and public speaking events
Community Building
Raising Awareness of Social/Environmental Issues
Protecting Mother Earth from Potential Pollution and Desecration
We are a newly found collective with limited resources and have started this fund site as a seed to grow into what our vision of people power truly is. Our mission needs allyship more than ever to help put a stop to the ongoing injustices that Lakota people have faced since colonists stepped foot here. With your help, we can accomplish anything.
All proceeds will be used for the following:
Resistance Art (Paint, Canvas, wood, tools, ink cartridges, etc.)
Technology and Communications (SD Cards, computers, cameras, internet access, drone maitenance, website and email subscriptions, etc.)
In-House Maintenance of the CRGC building (office supplies, training supplies, remodeling, etc.)
Community Events (food, refreshments, first aid, etc.)
NVDA Trainings
Cultural Arts for Creative Fundraising (Sewing machine, fabric, leather, beads, tools, etc.)
Community Outreach
Community Garden (soil, seeds, garden supplies, etc.)
We appreciate all the love, support and prayers during these trying times. Wopila tanka (great thanks) for your contribution to our shared vision.
