Support Crucible Staff in Asheville's Recovery

If you are reading this, first of all, Thank You! We have witnessed first-hand the best of humanity in what has been the worst of times for so many of our friends, neighbors, and loved ones. Before opening Crucible 8 years ago, I called the River Arts District of Asheville my home, my community hub, and the place where I, alongside so many others, manifested dreams into existence. This neighborhood and the people who have filled it’s historic buildings with art and industry are the reason this town has held my heart for over 20 years.
Crucible is, for us, the distillation of that sense of place. Each of you can feel how special it is here. I know because you’ve told me so many times. Our staff are among the incredible community members that make this place what it is, and like so many in our greater area, they are without income for what could be a very, very long time.
In addition to a lack of power or water, the vast majority of our neighborhood was partially or completely submerged in a raging river riddled with petrol, raw sewage, and industrial waste. What remains standing may not be safe or habitable for the foreseeable future. The truth is that our neighborhood will never be the same, and we don’t yet know how that will effect our ability to work or leisure here in the coming weeks or months.
Many of our staff depend on bartending as their only source of income. Some have sustained substantial damage to their homes that will require weeks of labor and significant amounts of money to repair. We are asking for your help in raising money to account for the equivalent income they will have lost over a two month period, which is what we anticipate it will take before we are able to serve you again.
Any funds raised will be shared among staff pro rata, according to the number of shifts they typically work per week. 100% of funds raised, less transaction fees will be given to staff.
With so many asking for help, we greatly appreciate your generosity. We are with our greater community in solidarity and action. We aren’t going anywhere, and if you need us, please let us know.
