Support Curt's Recovery from Brain Hemorrhage
Donation protected
On 10/25/24, Curt woke up with a terrific headache and profuse sweating. His wife, Cindy, told him to get in the car so she could take him to the emergency room. He couldn’t get up, so she called an ambulance.
They arrived at Shawano’s ER and the staff quickly called a “code stroke”. He was rushed to CT to get a scan of his brain, where they learned he had a very significant subarachnoid hemorrhage. The ER staff wanted to helicopter him to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee but, due to icy conditions, he had to be transported via ambulance and was intubated before they took off.
Upon arrival at Froedtert, Curt underwent many different tests. He had head CTs, angiograms and MRIs of his head and entire spine. The results basically show a subarachnoid, as well as a subdural hemorrhage.
He had a drain placed in his head to help drain the blood and fluid and help relieve intracranial pressure. They are still unsure what caused his brain bleed.
Curt was extubated on 10/26 and slowly taken off of sedation. He has a long road to recovery with many unknowns ahead of him. He will be hospitalized for weeks, if not longer. He is currently showing some neurological deficits.
Curt’s wife, Cindy, will be spending a lot of time in Milwaukee to be with Curt. To help alleviate some of the financial burdens of hotels and gas costs, I have set up this GoFundMe.
Our entire family would like to thank all of you for your thoughts, prayers, offers of help and donations. Most importantly, please continue to keep Curt and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
