Support Cynthia Overgard's Family After Tragic Loss

Donation protected
Cynthia Overgard and her children, Alex and Vanessa, need so much love and support now: Cynthia's beloved husband (Alex and Vanessa's Dad), Eric, tragically passed away a few days ago from cancer, which was only diagnosed this summer. Eric was a beautiful and deeply devoted husband and father. He was a financial services consultant by occupation and his hobbies were woodworking and building furniture, cooking spectacularly creative meals, and serving for many years as the beloved and respected Scout leader in his town of Westport, CT. He went camping every month of the year, and particularly loved being in and around water in his life. Eric had a boating license, and some of his water sports included SCUBA diving, snowboarding and competitive sailing. He loved nature; he could name exotic trees, birds and rocks, and his family and friends tried stumping him with questions, but he always seemed to know the answer to anything natural or scientific. He studied astrophysics in college and when he graduated, he had only enough money to buy himself a car or a powerful, massive telescope: He chose the telescope. It has a 12-inch diameter and with it, he showed the family constellations and planets through the years. He loved dogs (the family fostered and owned 11 homeless dogs in the past decade), he kept a beautiful collection of orchids in the home, and there wasn’t anything Eric couldn’t fix, from plumbing to electrical work. He loved Christmas and put more gifts under the tree for Cynthia and the children than all the other family members combined. He took beautiful care of his family and was sweet, strong and decent. He loved his job, his community work, and his hobbies. He loved his family, dogs, home and life.

Eric's illness rendered him unable to work for the past several months (without paid leave or disability), and now Cynthia needs to have the time and resources to prepare her home and family to move on without him. If you’re thinking “I can’t even imagine” as you read this right now, that’s what Cynthia is thinking. Their children are now in college and high school, and her task seems monumental to take this on without her incredibly capable, present and wonderful husband.

If your heart is moved from reading this, or if you’ve ever felt appreciation for Cynthia’s incredible contributions in the field of mothers and families, please view this as a beautiful opportunity to give back to her. Please share this call for support within your own circles and community so we can show Cynthia the good she has put into the world is very much coming back to her now. This GoFundMe page was set up by her friends and she was hesitant to let us share it… but she has always been the woman who teaches us to ask for help and support when we need it most, and now it's time for her to follow her own critical advice. You can also take the opportunity to gift someone Cynthia’s HypnoBirthing class or a month in her postpartum group, if you’d like your gift to serve someone in your life in addition to Cynthia’s family.

Because of the wonderful bright-light of a person that Eric was, and that Cynthia and her children are, we pray that all the goodwill Cynthia and Eric have each brought into the world will come back to them right now in abundance.

Thank you so much for blessing them with your response to this request. God Bless You.
