Support Cynthia Woolett's Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
This fundraiser has been created on behalf of Cynthia Woolett and the Woolett family.
On Tuesday, June 4th, Cythina suffered a series of serious strokes. The first stroke happened while she was working, and she was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where her symptoms were dismissed as vertigo. Cynthia returned home, where she suffered another stroke while trying to eat and became violently ill before becoming completely unresponsive. She was transported again by ambulance to Baptist Health Hardin Hospital. Cynthia was treated and remained in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) from Tuesday through Saturday afternoon ~4pm, when she was transferred to her own room.
The stroke primarily affected the left side of her brain, causing major loss of motor function on her right side. The doctors are adamant that intense and immediate stroke-specific therapy is the necessary next step for Cynthia to regain full functionality of her motor skills. Encompass Health provides this therapy in Elizabethtown, KY at a cost of $8,000 per week. Doctors are expecting at least 2 weeks of therapy if not more. 30% of the predicted total is required as an up-front deposit.
Because of a recent pay raise Cythina received through her employer, her salary moved out of the compensation bracket for her current health insurance plan, and her plan was automatically canceled. These strokes took place before her new insurance plan was finalized, leaving the full burden of payment for all medical expenses on Cythina and the Woolett family. Their immediate concern is getting Cynthia into this critical therapy so that she can have the best chance of recovery, but they will also have to bear the costs associated with the extended hospital stay & ambulance transportation in the future.
The current plan is for Cynthia to be transferred from Baptist Health Hardin Hospital to Encompass Health on Tuesday, June 11th. Donations given will go towards covering the rehab costs as well as other medical bills for her treatment up to this point. The family is extremely grateful for all of the thoughts, prayers, well wishes, and donations given. Thank you!
