Hey everybody, D. Channsin Berry here, better known as Chann to the world! If you don't know me, I will tell you, I am a multifaceted artist who is dedicated to documenting the heart and soul of the African American experience. Born in Newark, New Jersey, but settled in California, I feel my work as a filmmaker, songwriter, interviewer, and abstract painter, reflects my sensitivity and ability to communicate both complex and compelling narratives.
I consider myself to be a passionate storyteller, which is why I've focused my talents on directing and producing acclaimed independent documentary and film projects such as Dark Girls Parts 1 and 2, Sam Cooke l Crossing Over l PBS American Masters, The Church House: Sexuality in the Black Church, “My Father’s Music...Jazz” featuring jazz greats including Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach, Stanley Turrentine, and Oscar Peterson and most recently, the thought provoking and sometimes controversial, Reparations 400+ Years Part 1, 2. and 3 which examines African American history and justice from slavery through the modern day.
Why Gofundme? There's another story burning within, entitled "L.I.P". that I feel needs to be told and you can help me do that by donating to this campaign which will cover the production cost.
We need to raise $90,000 by September 30th so production can begin on October 1st. This timeline will give us enough time to shoot and wrap up in time to submit "L.I.P." to the Academy Awards Short Category! Yes, I AM a believer that all things are possible - you've just got to believe, and I believe!

"Inspired by painful resilience, a 60 yr old Black Man faces his traumatic past and upbringing, and thinks he can find hope in the (Church). But, “L.I.P” is not alone in his quest for redemption and inner peace. Someone in the Church knows his secrets as well, yes, someone from the Church...
