Support Dacia's ❤️ Transplant Journey and Road to Recovery

On May 14, 2024, my daughter Dacia gave birth to a beautiful little girl and two days later she and her fiancé Earl left the hospital to begin life as a crew of five. Eight days post delivery on May 22, Dacia went into sudden cardiac arrest, was resuscitated and placed on life support. After being life-flighted to a higher level facility in Richmond, it was determined that she had pregnancy-related spontaneous coronary artery dissection (P-SCAD), mitral valve prolapse and scarring of the heart tissue. P-SCAD is a rare condition that occurs in about 1.81 of every 100,000 pregnancies. That she survived this event was our first miracle.

After several procedures and medicinal treatments, we were told that a heart transplant would be her only hope for survival. Our thoughts as a family went from fear and uncertainty to hope and belief that this is not how Dacia's story would end. After ten days of praying for a second chance, Dacia received the greatest gift of a ❤️HEART on June 23, our second miracle!

Dacia is now one month post transplant and looks forward to finally returning home to Earl, who with the help of family, has been caring for their newborn daughter Joselyn, 2 months, and their other children Gianna, 3 years and Joell, 12 years, who all miss her very much. With gratefulness from Dacia and her family, we are asking for any donations, thoughts, and especially your love and prayers.
