- Hi, my name is D’Alice and this is my Dad, Gil. He is an 87-year-old Vietnam veteran with severe dementia. Medicaid was denied even though he has no assets. His Social Security and annuity form working for the Postal Service brings him mere tens of dollars above the threshold, but those funds would only cover half of the rent at the adult care facility he is in. He’s not eligible for most things even though he’s a simple man with a straightforward case. I didn’t want to start this up again, but suggestion after suggestion was made, so I am.
- Any money raised will go directly towards his elder care, so we can keep him as comfortable as possible, and me—as the sole one who’s had to take care of every single thing along the way—some peace knowing I’ll have a little more breathing room while other options can be explored.
- Eldercare takes persistence, and I am running out of steam. I even went into debt to hire a lawyer…but my dad still got denied.
- The raised goal amount is to get us to the end of the year when paired with his SS and Annuity…since my faith in other services or winning appeals is nil.
