Support Dan Bolton after he was displaced by fire
Donation protected
Early morning Sunday, June 23, an electrical fire broke out at a building at Ross and Wellington in St. Thomas. Residents and their pets were able to evacuate after alarms started sounding at 5.a.m. All tenants were allowed to return except for Dan Bolton. His apartment was the most damaged after the fire spread through the ceiling and into his unit. A lot of Dan’s belongings have been destroyed by smoke and unfortunately, he did not have insurance. Dan and his cat won’t be able to return home for several months.
Many will know Dan as an advocate and friend of those living on the street. Dan started the Homeless Coalition of St. Thomas and has played a key role in local supportive housing initiatives. Dan has also been recognized for his peer support work supporting people dealing with addiction and mental illness. To further his advocacy, Dan recently completed the paralegal program at Fanshawe College.
Remediation work on Dan’s apartment is estimated to take between 2-4 months. He needs financial support to help pay for temporary accommodations, essential belongings (clothing, toiletries) and storage.
The Red Cross covered the first few nights at a motel, but after Friday, Dan is without a place to stay and is at risk of being homeless himself.
Dan has been there to help so many people when they were struggling. Now, he urgently needs help to keep a roof over his own head. Let’s rally to help Dan get back on his feet.
Any contribution, no matter how small, as well as words of support mean so much during this difficult time.
