Support Dana in her Recovery
On July 10th, while we were vacationing in Vermont with family, our mom Dana had an unfortunate accident. She had a terrible fall in which she lost consciousness, broke several ribs and fractured 3 vertebrae. This has tragically resulted in a spinal cord injury. She was taken by ambulance to the University of Vermont hospital and had emergency surgery to fuse 5 vertebrae in her lower back as well as remove a severely fractured rib. She is currently in the ICU and is awake and stable. She has been incredibly fortunate to not have suffered any head or neck injuries and has thankfully retained her upper body function. However, the severity of the damage to her vertebrae and resulting damage to her spinal cord has left her with limited movement to her lower limbs. Whilst we are forever hopeful that with extensive rehab she will be able to walk again and regain normal function, she has a long and challenging road ahead. We know our mother is strong and will fight through this, but we also know that she cannot do this alone. She will need all the love and good energy we can possibly give her. There have also been friends and loved ones who have reached out wondering if there is anything more they can do to help. We have set up this page with the intention of giving those who might feel inclined a way to support our mom so that she might have a few less things to worry about. We will also use this page to provide updates more efficiently to her friends and loved ones. Please feel free to reach out through this platform as well as we know mom would be grateful to hear from you!
We want to thank you all for your continued love, prayers, and support as we are with her through this difficult time.
