Support Daniel Atlabachew's Second Transplant

My name Samrawit Chernet, I live in the United States of America. I’m reaching out to you on behalf of my dearest cousin Daniel Atlabachew once more with a heavy heart but a hopeful spirit. For the past year Daniel had been fighting a relentless battle against acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Thanks to your incredible support, he was able to undergo a life-saving bone marrow transplant at Apollo Hospital in India earlier this year.

During his treatment, he faced countless rounds of chemotherapy, each one more grueling than the last. The side effects were excruciating, and the journey was filled with pain and uncertainty. Each day was a struggle ,despite all the best efforts the fight was far from easy. Following his initial successful bone marrow transplant from his sister, who was a 100% match, Daniel unfortunately experienced a relapse of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Due to this relapse, his doctors have recommended a second bone marrow transplant, which must come from an international donor registry, as there are no suitable matches within the family.

Given the complexity of his condition, the doctors are not accepting partial matches due to the high risk of complications that could arise compared to his first transplant. Daniel has traveled from Ethiopia to India to undergo treatment at the Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre.

His treatment plan includes a series of chemotherapy sessions, the second bone marrow transplant from an international donor registery or even if possible potentially CART cell therapy, and extensive post-transplant care. The entire process is expected to keep him in India for 5-8 months.

ውድ ቤተሰቦች ጓደኞቼ እና በአለም ላይ ያላችሁ የደጋግ ልቦች ባለቤቶች ሳምራዊት ቸርነት እባላለሁ። በዚህ እጅግ አስቸጋሪ ወቅት ነገርግን በተስፋ ተሞልቼ የአጎቴ ልጅ ዳንኤል አጥላባቸው ላይ ስለሆነበት ነገር እነግራችኋለሁ። እንደምታውቁት ላለፉት አመታት አኪዩት ማይሎይድ ሉኪሚያ (AML) ከተሰኘ ህመም ለመዳን የእናንተ ድጋፍ ታክሎበት ጥረት ሲያደርግ ነበር። በተደረገለት ድጋፍ በህንድ አፖሎ ሆስፒታል የአጥንት መቅኒ ንቅለ ተከላ ማድረግ ችሎ ነበር። በሕክምናው ወቅት ስፍር ቁጥር የሌላቸው የኬሞቴራፒ ሒደቶችን ከሕመም ጋር አሳልፏል። የጎንዮሽ ጉዳቶቻቸው የጎሉ እጅግ አስከፊ ነበሩ። የህክምና ሂደቱ ቀላል አልነበረም። የተቻለውን ሁሉ ጥረት ተደርጎ ከእህቱ በተገኘ ልገሳ የአጥንት መቅኔ ንቅለ ተከላ በተሳካ ሁኔታ ቢያደርግም ብዙም ሳይቆይ ሕመሙ ሊያገረሽበት ችሏል። ውድ ወገኖቼ ወዳጆቼ ሆይ መቶ ፐርሰንት ተስማሚ ለጋሽ ከቤተሰቡ መገኘት ባለመቻሉ ዶክተሮች ከዓለም አቀፍ ለጋሾች በሚገኝ ልገሳ ሁለተኛ ዙር የአጥንት መቅኒ ንቅለ ተከላ ለማድረግ ሀሳብ አቅርበዋል።

የችግሩን ውስብስብነት በማየት የሕክምና አባላቱ ሕክምናውን በፍጥነት ማድረግ እንዳለበት የገለፁ ሲሆን አሁን ላይ ዳንኤል በጋንዲ ካንሰር ኢንስቲትዩት እና የምርምር ማዕከል ሕክምና እያደረገ ይገኛል። ተከታታይ ኬሞቴራፒ እና የድህረ የአጥንት መቅኔ ንቅለ ተከላ ለማድረግ የእኛን እገዛ እየተጠባበቀ ይገኛል። የሕክምና ሂደቱ ከ 5-8 ወር ሊፈጅ የሚችል ሲሆን አጠቃላይ ሕክምናው ወደ 110,000 USD የሚፈጅ ይሆናል። ትልቁና አስቸጋሪው ወጪ የአለም አቀፍ ለጋሽ ወጪ ነው። አሁን ያለው የውጭ ምንዛሪ ከፍታ ታክሎበት ሕክምናውን ለማድረግ በከባድ እና ፈታኝ ሁኔታ ውስጥ የምንገኝ ሲሆን ድጋፋችሁ ልክ እንደከዚህ ቀደሙ ሁሉ ዛሬም እንዳይለየን በኢትዮጵያዊ ጨዋነት ዝቅ ብለን እንጠይቃለን። ደግነታችሁ ከዚህ በፊት ጥንካሬን ሰጥቶታል። ዛሬም ይህን የነገ ባለ ህልም ወጣት ሕይወት በጋራ ቆመን እንድንታደግ ስንጠይቅ ለትላንት ቸርነታችሁ እንደ ከዚህ ቀደሙ ሁሉ ምስጋናችን የላቀ ነው። ይህን አስቸጋሪ ወቅት ለማሸነፍ በተስፋ እና በቆራጥነት ውስጥ የሚገኘውን ወንድማችንን በጋራ እንድናግዘው ሁሉን በሚችለው በልዑል አምላክ ስም እጠይቃለሁ።
