This is hard to write! I've been mostly self-sustaining for so long that I didn't anticipate needing help any time soon. But here we are.
My name is Danielle. I'm a 28 y.o. writer living in Los Angeles. For a while now, I've been working as a communications associate until I get the chance to break into a writers' room or finish the book I'm writing.
But, recently, I've hit a hard moment financially. I thought it would be relieved with my tax refund, but I've learned that it is all gone.
As some of you know, I was laid off from an org a while ago. Upon termination, I received severance from them to sustain my unemployment but it came in an untaxed lump sum. I put myself on a payment plan for the taxes but still, the total refund I was supposed to receive this year between both the IRS and California's FTB was taken by both! $4099 has been garnished and there's still more to pay.
I'm looking to replace this money so I can keep hanging on in Los Angeles. Almost every industry that exists out here is struggling and the recent fires haven't helped. But I'm growing to like my life here and I'm not ready to leave.
I'm estranged from my family because I'm queer and, even if I wasn't, we do not come from generational wealth! So I do often have to rely on community and friends in moments like these.
I've rounded the need to $5000 to replace the loss. The funds raised will go toward putting a dent in major monthly expenses like my car note and insurance, pup care, groceries, rent, and credit card bills.
I hope you're able to support but, if not, I hope that you share regularly until I hit my goal. Thank you, all.
