Support Danny's Son & Family for Cowen's Recovery and Future
Donation protected
Hello my name is Danny Snider I am reaching out for my son Layne Snider and his family! Cowen Snider, my Grandson 3 years old and full of life recently had an accident and lost his fingers on his left hand. The doctors initially saved part of his thumb and pinky. They have since then gone back to the Hospital and have found out he may now lose the pinky as infection has set in on his hand. Asking for Prayers that the Doctors can save his pinky and hand in surgery over the next few days. Layne himself had a recent accident and was out of work for three and half months after breaking his ankle in two places also requiring surgeries and much medical expense, Layne had just recently gone back to work. Anna, my daughter in law, is strong and trying to keep the ship afloat but as everyone knows in today’s economy there are now two bread winners in the family. She too will have to miss work as Cowen recovers and the healing process begins not to mention what will be next as he begins to deal with the new ways of functioning through life without a fully functioning hand.
I am asking for Prayers, Compassion, and any donations you can give to help them get through the next few months as they miss work and deal with Medical Bills, Trips to Hospital and any additional aids that will help Cowen in the months and years to come. Thank You and God Bless!
Sharing a little more detail this morning after talking with friends and family. Please be careful! Layne and Cowen were spending time together with big smiles on their faces doing lawn work as it sounds we all have at one time or another, Riding the lawnmower with dad cutting the grass, what could be better! Cowen took a spill resulting in the worst possible result. Please remind your loved ones it only takes a second for the joy of spending time together doing something that may seem so harmless to turn into a life changing incident! I hope and Pray that everyone who reads this will learn from it and not have to actually go through the experience as Layne and his family will for the rest of their lives!
Update and story from Anna, Cowen's Mom:
On the afternoon of June 8th our lives changed forever, but even more for our 3yr old son Cowen. Layne and Cowen were doing their weekly chore that they both love to do together, yard work. Cowen follows his daddy in just about everything he does and cutting the yard is no exception. Cutting grass with his daddy is what Cowen loves to do, he sits right between his daddy's legs while they mow the yard as a team. Cowen took a spill resulting in the worst possible result, he was in an accident that ultimately severed his fingers and top part of his palm. He was air lifted to university medical in New Orleans where the doctors initially saved part of his thumb and pinky. He was hospitalized for a few days, then we returned home. On Wednesday June 12th we came back to the Hospital for his check up and have found out that infection has set in on his hand. He went into yet another surgery on June 13th where the surgeon had to eventually take his pinky, shave his hand down 1/3 of his palm and remove the infection. He is doing well at this moment in time. We have to stay another week here at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans to keep an eye on his hand. We know that we have a long road ahead of us. We ask that everyone just keep our little boy and also our little family in your prayers. Thank you in advance. I’m sure some of you are wondering why I’m not responding to your text or calls. This is a very overwhelming situation that we have never been in or never expected to be in! I also hope to never see or hear about this happening to anyone else!
