Donation protected
On February 4th, a father of three with no criminal background was detained by ICE in front of his children, neighbors, and community with unnecessary force. Around a dozen agents showed up with rifles, shields, and armor while his family watched in horror as they took him away.
In the 1990s, Dante Lopez fled violence in his native Peru to come to America. After his visa expired, he was deported and came back into the country when his life was threatened by communist guerrilla warfare. That was 15 years ago.
In those 15 years, Dante Lopez has contributed to the country significantly. He has paid taxes, held jobs, bought a home, and raised children with his wife. He has also been working with ICE since 2022 to legalize his status.
Currently, Dante is being detained and his future in this country is unknown. As a community, we are raising funds to help his wife and young children (13, 9, and 5) make a plan for next steps and navigate this difficult time without their family’s provider. No child should be subjected to what they have seen, and we are hoping to make this difficult time a little easier on this wonderful family.
