I began playing golf at the age of 16, by the time I turned 21 I had reached a handicap of scratch and lucky enough to win multiple amateur events in the Ballarat district area. By the start of 2015, I had reached a handicap of +2 and made the decision that at the start of 2016, I would embark on the PGA traineeship to fulfil my dream of becoming a PGA Professional. Over the first 2 years of the traineeship, I have been able to compete against the best trainee players in Australia and overseas, having 23 top 10 finishes and a T11th at the National Futures Event that holds the title of the biggest trainee event in the world last year. I finished in the top 50 of Australia trainees in 2016 & 2017 receiving PGA invites for tier 1 & 2 events Australia wide. I feel I’m ready to take my game to the next level and prepare myself for a career in playing post my traineeship.
The past 2 years has shown me the financial expectations of the traineeship, from annual PGA fees, tournament entry fees and travel expenses whilst receiving minimal wage, ultimately providing reason for the need of sponsorship and support.
Therefore, I am asking for any assistance possible to help make my final year of my PGA traineeship the best it can be and prepare myself for a professional career following 2018.
