Darryl Johnson, as he is known on radio is a beloved figure in Birmingham, AL, has dedicated his life to serving his community through his 39 years in radio, most recently as the afternoon drive host on 98.7 Kiss FM for 28 years. Born and raised in Birmingham, Darryl is a proud graduate of AH Parker High School and Alabama State University, and a respected member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity.
Throughout his career, Darryl has been more than just a voice on the radio; he has been a steadfast advocate for the youth in his community. He has led initiatives to mentor young men, created campaigns to combat gun violence, and actively supported Parker High School athletics. Darryl believes that creating a better future requires collective effort, and he has always encouraged others to do their part.
Despite his unwavering commitment to the community, Darryl has been battling kidney disease for the past few years. Even while facing this challenge, he has remained devoted to his family, his listeners, and the community that raised him.
