I'm Darryl Mott, columnist covering tabletop roleplaying games and editor for multiple podcasts, needs help with hospital bills and other medical expenses.
I was originally hospitalized on October 27, 2024, after being unable to stand or walk. I was unaware, however, this was symptom of a much worse problem: I was dying.
Once I made it to the hospital, they discovered my kidneys had effectively shut down. I had to be put under general anesthesia and intubated. They removed kidney stones and placed two stints. I have been taking dialysis three times a week since then and will continue that schedule after leaving the hospital.
Going back to the other issue, my legs themselves were covered in wounds that had developed a fungal infection. After a surgery to remove dead skin and necrotic tissue, I'm on a path to healing there as well. I am currently unable to walk or stand, but I can move both of my legs and feet and wiggle my toes.
I am currently working to obtain whatever assistance I can from whatever sources I can. However, it is difficult as I cannot prove my income source and many of these programs take a very long time for approval.
Funds from this campaign will be used to pay off medical bills, pay off debt accumulated related to medical expenses outside hospital bills, various medical expenses such as outfitting our home so I can move around and possibly a wheelchair, and other medical expenses.
