Support Dashawn’s Car Accident Recovery Fund

Yesterday morning my cousin Lanisha received one of the worst calls any mother could ever receive. Her son, my cousin had been in a horrible car accident.

 

 

On Saturday March 26th around 2am Dashawn was enjoying what he thought was just a regular late Friday night turned into an early Saturday morning with two of his friends headed to end their night. Dashawn was napping in the back seat alone as they drove down the street together when the car was hit at a extreme speed causing it to then spin out and smash into a large light pole less than three miles from his own home. It was a blessing that his two friends were able to walk away from the accident but Dashawn was not as lucky. The force of the crash caused Dashawn to be flung in between the two front seats hitting the dashboard. Paramedics had to pull him from the car and he was raced to best trauma hospital in the state.

 

 

Dashawn is suffering from a broken neck, spine and multiple broken ribs. He also sustained significant cuts and gashes to his face. Unfortunately Dashawn although alert and awake which was a blessing that we are not taking for granted, was unable to feel the lower part of his body. After a CT and MRI it was determined that he would have to undergo an emergency surgery to address his spinal injury. After a long surgery with unexpected results it was ruled that Dashawn may not be able to walk or use his bowels again.

 

 

 

As you can imagine our family is devastated and our hearts hurt for Dashawn as well as his mother, father, step father and two younger siblings. It is unsure as to when Dashawn will be discharged from the hospital and able to join his family at home again but it is true Dashawn will have a long journey of recovery ahead of him. As a young freshly 21yr old this type of life changing incident can and will be very difficult for him. Dashawn was training to get his CDL and eager to begin his journey being a truck driver with the long term goal to start his own trucking company. This unfortunate event has permanently altered his future in more ways than one. The family is asking for all the prayers for not only his physical recovery but also his emotional and mental recovery as well.

 

Our family is desperate for prayers

and are asking for any and all help you can provide. We are starting this GoFund me to raise money to help with paying growing medical bills, family bills as his parents will have to take a significant amount of time off of work and cost for any rehabilitation center and medical equipment he will need going forward.

 

The hope is that this page will help our family focus more on Dashawn and his recovery rather than this massive financial burden that will continue to grow. Please, any help is so greatly appreciated, and please keep him and our family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you!
