Support Dave Coffey and family after great loss

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

I'm reaching out to you today on behalf of Dave Coffey, a member of our Mesa Fire and Medical Department family who has recently experienced an unimaginable loss. Dave's beloved wife, Shelley Coffey, passed away after battling Jacob’s Disease, a rare and fatal neurological prion disease. Just three short months after her diagnosis, Shelley's life was tragically taken from us, leaving Dave and their blended family of 11 children heartbroken.

Dave and Shelley originally met as teenagers in California, but life took them on separate paths until they reunited in 2003. Just 3 days before Shelley’s passing, they celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. Throughout their time together, Shelley was not only a devoted wife but also an extraordinary mother and grandmother, affectionately known as "Mimi" to her 11 grandchildren.

Shelley was a shining example of determination and strength, demonstrating to her family and friends that anything is possible with hard work and dedication. She pursued her passions fearlessly, achieving black belt status in martial arts and earning her pro card in women's bodybuilding in the figure division in 2021.

In addition to her personal achievements, Shelley dedicated 21 years of her life to working as a legal secretary here in Arizona, touching the lives of many with her kindness and professionalism.

As Dave and his family work through this difficult time, they are faced with both emotional and financial challenges. To ease their burden, we have established this GoFundMe campaign. Your generous contributions will help provide support for funeral expenses, medical bills, and other unforeseen costs.

Shelley's infectious spirit of happiness and love touched the lives of everyone she met, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts. While there will never be another like her, we can honor her memory by coming together to support Dave and their family during this time of need.

Thank you for your generosity, compassion, and love.

With heartfelt gratitude,
