Support Dave during his cancer battle

UPDATE 9/18/24:

We appreciate all of the prayers and donations over the last couple of months. Dad finished his current chemo/radiation treatments and we are waiting for his PET scan appt on October 3rd. While we wait for this scan and the results to see if he is in remission or if more treatment is needed, he does still have his feeding tube and port. Dad is still unable to return to work, but even with no money coming in, the bills don’t stop. If anyone can find it in their hearts to continue to donate to Dad, then please do that. And still always keep him in your prayers.

This is very out of the ordinary for my family and I, but we are starting this page to try to help get some support for our Dad. Over the course of the last week, Dad has been diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma/Tonsillar Cancer. To say we are devastated is putting it lightly. The last few days have consisted of several Drs appts and tests. This battle has just begun. Dad was seen today by ENT to be evaluated for surgery. Due to the size of the largest mass (he currently has more than 5) and the location of if (it is currently 8cm and is pressing on his jugular which is causing about 95% blockage of blood flow to his carotid artery), Dr. Wallace stated he was unable to do this. Dad has been referred to Charlottesville to see a ENT specialist to determine whether he is a candidate for them to try to remove this. This is critical that they either remove this large mass or try to shrink it down some prior to removing. He is scheduled for PET scan in a couple of days to see if this cancer has spread anywhere else in his body. It has currently also moved into the lymph nodes on his left side of neck. Daddy does have insurance, but his Copays have already started to add up. So here comes the tough part of us asking for help. If anyone is able to donate to help with medical bills, traveling back and forth to Charlottesville, hotel stays for appts away, and regular bills because they unfortunately won’t stop either…..that would be very much appreciated. Even every penny counts. He’s not going to be able to return to work for a while, if ever.
