I come to you with an urgent plea. A long time friend of ours, David “Dave” Koch is fighting for his life in a hospital in Miami, Florida.
For those of you who know Dave, you know his story, one of heartache, healing and recovery. He and his wife Jeanne have been married for 40 years. They have 3 sons and 1 grandson. Jeanne is a nurse and like Dave, a public servant. She has likely saved the lives of many of you who will read this post. Both Dave and Jeanne have dedicated their lives to helping others. Now it is time for us to give back to help them when they need it the most.
As the current Director of Operations for Christian Recovery Centers, Inc. which is a non-profit organization that provides free 6-24 month residential recovery programs for women and men struggling with addiction AS WELL as an elected official for Horry County School District 1. In South Carolina Dave has been committed to serving his community both professionally and through public service. His life's work has been dedicated to helping others find hope and healing, providing free rehabilitation services that transform lives and advocating for education. Dave was also the former Director of Young Adult Services at Sea Haven for Youth which provides crisis support for young adults.
Recently, while traveling for work, what he initially dismissed as a simple "cold" quickly escalated into a life-threatening medical emergency. Today, he's fighting for every breath as this medical crisis has turned their world upside down.
The medical bills will be staggering, but the financial impact goes far beyond just medical expenses:
There may be specialized treatments and medications not covered by insurance.
Co-pays
Out-of-state medical transportation and lodging.
Loss of income due to unexpected hospitalization. Jeanne will need to be with him so neither will be able to work, meaning NO INCOME.
Mounting living expenses in two locations and obviously their mortgage, insurance and utilities need to still be paid so they have a home to come back to.
Dave has always been the one helping others – volunteering at local shelters, youth pastor, mentoring young, and being the first to show up when a friend or family member needed support and Now, it's our turn to be there for him.
Your donation, no matter the size, could be the difference between hope and despair. Between life and loss.
I plead with you to take a moment and help Dave and his family in any way you can. Whether it's a prayer, a donation, or sharing this campaign, your support can make a life-changing difference.
This is more than a fundraiser. This is a community coming together to support one of its own – a true public servant who has given everything to help others.
