DaVinci's Academic Decathlon Team won the Championship Trophy at Utah's Statewide Competition the first weekend of March. As the Champions, the team will now represent the state of Utah at the National Competition in Frisco, Texas, in April (April 27 - 29).
Team members have worked hard to become the #1 team in Utah, and they will continue to work hard (after school, Saturdays, spring break) to do a great job representing Utah. They need help with the cost of getting to Texas; we estimate the cost for airfare, hotel, meals, and misc. to come to about $1000 per student. Eight students make up the team, so we are hoping to raise $8000. (If we go over that amount, we will be able to offset the cost of the coaches' and chaperones' travel.)
DaVinci is a small school (338 high schoolers), and we're a Title 1 school. That means the betting folks in Las Vegas would NOT bet that DaVinci's team would be headed to the National Competition. But through a lot of dedication to studying and to each other, we're #1 in Utah!
