Support Dawn Davis's Healing Journey

My Mothers Health Journey, Dawn Davis:

As some of you may know that my mother’s health journey has not been the easiest due to kidney cancer. The original diagnosis was when she was 40. She had a kidney removed to beat it the first time. Unfortunately, it popped back up at the age of 50 but this time it lingered up behind her right eye. She did go through chemotherapy and radiation in the hopes of beating it, but months later cancer cells were still visible. This was worst case scenario since her eye was not getting better and was bulging out causing discomfort to say the least.

The right eye removal surgery took place on November 16th, 2020. They removed the eye and then filled it with tissue / vessel that they took from her left arm. The recovery did not go too well, she ended up with an infection and went back under on January 8th, 2021. The doctors had to take everything out to help beat this infection which then left her to live with an open hole in her face. She was in and out of the hospital for months fighting this infection. She is now considered disabled. Living normally for her is no longer. She can no longer smell, blow her nose, shower normally. She now must keep the hole clean and covered up daily.

A few years have now passed, and my mom has been seeing a few different doctors / surgeons to see what could be done to not have to live like this any longer. She found a doctor in Rochester NY that stated that they can fill the hole using tissue / vessel from her right leg. They gave her a 20% chance of the surgery of going through with it. This surgery took place on August 12th, 2024, and the surgery was a success! We are now in the recovery phase with the hopes of everything healing up successfully.
