Hello, my name is DC Martinez. Many of you may know me as the Sports Director at the YMCA, a community youth mental health advocate, youth sports coach for USAWY or from founding the Blue Heart Collaborative.
My family—my wife of 16 years, Melissa and my 16-year-old son Adonis—and I moved to Casper nearly five years ago from Las Vegas, NV, during the COVID shutdowns, which affected both of the industries I worked in: tradeshows and youth sports. Since arriving, we’ve worked hard to become active members of this wonderful community. We regularly attend Fort Ministry in Mills, are members of the local high school Booster Club, and volunteer at the Rescue Mission.
Through these connections, I’ve had the privilege of being recognized with a Jefferson Volunteerism Award and launching several community initiatives, including:
Underdawgz Sports Academy (USAWY): A nonprofit that enables underprivileged youth athletes to participate in travel sports, supported by local sponsorships, and paired with a Big Brother Mentorship Program with the Casper College Basketball Team to inspire and guide these young athletes toward bright futures.
Blue Heart Collaborative: A nonprofit dedicated to addressing youth violence in our community by uniting youth organizations to share resources, spaces, and programs to create safer, more structured environments for our youth.
Come & See Youth Rallys: Helping young people find their center in Christ and showing them how His presence can guide them through any challenge they face.
Through all of this, I’ve found true joy in serving our youth and helping better our community, it’s a joy that comes from having Christ at the center of my life. Despite helping hundreds of youths daily, my family and I live modestly—in a 35 ft. travel trailer and I drive a 1994 Chevy truck.
I’ve had multiple opportunities to change industries and make a higher income, but I know in my heart that my calling is to serve and guide the next generation, so I’ve stayed true to this purpose.
Now, we are ready to plant deeper roots in Casper. We’ve found a modest house that we are under contract to purchase, but additional fees beyond our large down payment have created financial challenges. So, we are reaching out to our community for prayers and support to help us take this next step in establishing a long-term home in the place we’ve come to love. With a $100 contribution from 50 people in the community, my family will have a house to call home for Christmas, so if you find it in your heart, we'd greatly appreciate your support.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for being a part of this community we’re so blessed to call home.
