Who was Prince Albert Hearns Jr.?
Prince Albert Hearns, Jr. was born October 13, 1943, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. After graduating from High School, he enrolled at Jarvis Christian College and graduated on August 8, 1967, with a degree in Biology and a minor in Human Performance. After graduation from college, he was drafted into the Army in 1967.
While in the Army, he served as a Medical Specialist in Vietnam from March 1968-March 1969. He received the Vietnam Service Campaign Medal. He was also recognized as a Sharpshooter with the M-14, and as an Expert with the M-16. After serving the country that he loved so much and completing his time in the Army, he was honorably discharged.
He joined Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship (OCBF) church in Dallas, TX where he was active in the Prayer Ministry, taught bible classes and served as a Deacon within the church for over 40+ years.
Prince’s permanent employment included working in food services for the Dallas ISD and Fort Worth ISD.
Deacon Hearns was an honest, good, and dedicated Christian man. He always a Christian first and foremost. He was a prayer warrior for anyone that came across his path, always asking if he could pray for you. The late Mr. Hearns Jr. was always nice and caring to everyone that he met. He was a veteran. Not only a war hero, but a hero to his friends and family.
He never complained. In fact, he suffered in silence from kidney cancer. He never disclosed this information to his family, including his surviving children.
He was a dedicated husband and father to his children and grandchildren. He showered his family with love and affection. He had a way of making each person in his presence feel unique and special. Whenever you visit his home, he always welcomed you with love, friendship, and a beautiful smile.
He was a Deacon to the outside world, but just Dad and Grandpa to his children and grandchildren.
He was known as the “Prayer Warrior” in his family and church. That is why Prince Albert Hearns Jr.‘s three surviving children have started a non-profit organization, called “The Prayer Warrior.”
The Prayer Warrior organization will host an annual memorial scholarship fund, named the Deacon Prince Albert Hearns Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund.
His children hope that in life, as in death he will continue to serve his community and bless everyone that came into his life, which included those that he met in just passing. He served his community through Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church (OCBF) for 40 years. His children hope the same for anyone that encounters the new nonprofit organization, The Prayer Warrior.
