Support Debbie Dyck After Ruptured Aneurysm
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Kyndal and I'm raising funds for my beloved mom who had an aneurysm that ruptured roughly two weeks ago. She had surgery and it was successful but the road to recovery will take some time. Your support will help cover her monthly bills, support her adored pets while she's away, and aid in her journey to recovery. We don't want her to worry about anything and just want her to focus on getting better. Any donation, no matter how small, will make a difference in her healing process. Thank you all so much for your kindness and immense generosity.
UPDATES:
March 1, 2024
Debbie has transitioned from the surgical intensive care unit to the step down ward. She is breathing on her own now. The tube draining fluids from her brain has been removed. She is still experiencing some pain but being medicated for it. She is eating solids now and her feeding tube has been removed for the time being, as long as we can encourage her to eat enough on her own. She has had one very brief physio session so far, but still very weak and requires lots of support. She is experiencing some confusion as well. Her brain still has some healing to do. In the meantime we very much appreciate your continued prayers, positive energy, donations and sharing of her healing journey. Thank you all.

We were told that Debbie would soon be moved to a rehabilitation center but then she developed a fever, which has since broken, thankfully.
After an MRI, they found she is still experiencing spasms and bleeding in the brain. She has been moved back to the ICU where they are monitoring her closely and draining the fluid again.
Thank you all for your generous contributions and unwavering support during these challenging times, it means the world to us.

Debbie has been moved out of the ICU once again and back to the step down ward. Her latest CT scan says things are looking good with her brain. There is no more bleeding. She's been working with a physiotherapist everyday and is really enjoying these sessions. If you know her, you know she's a busy body and staying in bed all day is something she's struggling with.
They've done a cognitive assessment and noticed some struggles with short term memory so it's looking like she will do some time in a stoke rehabilitation facility and has access to all of the resources she needs to make sure she she's at a good base line before going home.
We were told that 50% of people with a ruptured aneurysm don't survive the rupture, and 1/3 of those people who survive and have the surgery don't make it past two days so we are feeling very blessed to see how far she's come and the amazing recovery progress she's made.

Debbie has been moved to a Rehabilitation Centre where they will work with her and help her gain her strength back. The staff is very welcoming and friendly and we know she’s in great hands there. She even got to visit with her dog for the first time in over a month and she was so excited for that. She is doing very well.
If anyone is interested in visiting, please reach out to me and I can send you the information you need.

Debbie gets a weekend pass to come home for the long weekend starting Thursday!
We are asking that visiting this weekend be just for family members as she just wants to take it easy this weekend and enjoy being home. Thank you for your understanding and have a Happy Easter. :)

Debbie is doing well in rehab. Energy levels are still quite low. She's doing daily physical and cognitive therapy. She is also getting weekend passes so if you are interested in visiting her, keep in mind that she probably won't be at the rehab center on weekends. She'll be soaking up time with her family, close friends, and her pets who are by her side all weekend long.
If you wish to visit and don't know where she currently is staying, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for your kind words and continued support. ♥

Debbie had a CT scan this week that revealed more fluid in the brain that is not draining properly. She is scheduled to have a shunt put in on Friday to help with drainage.
April 29, 2024
The surgery went well, the shunt is in and it seems to be doing its job well. Much of the confusion Debbie was experiencing has cleared up and she is doing so well. We are all so excited to see what a difference it's made for her. On another note, Debbie gets to come home from the rehabilitation center this week and is really looking forward to that. :)
