Dee met Willem McRobie in 2006 on the magical island of Nantucket just off the coast of Massachusetts where they both were living. Dee grew up in Cork, Ireland and spent a year in Australia before moving to Nantucket in 1996. Will grew up in Pelham, just outside NYC. He'd been going to Nantucket every summer as a child and moved to the island in 2006. They met and fell in love. After dating for 4 years, Dee and Will were married in 2010. Sunny weather and the call of the other coast brought them to San Francisco the next year, and later they made their home in Santa Cruz.

Dee found a position at Apple in Marketing and Communications (Marcom) in 2012 while Will began a career in real estate. Dee started in Recruiting, then moved to the Interactive team, and later went on to support a number of Apple executives. Ultimately, Dee’s extensive project management experience opened a completely new role for her as a space planner in Marcom. Along the way, Dee and Will had two beautiful sons, Alasdair in 2013, and Euan in 2016. Will's career gave him great flexibility to spend time with the boys. As Alasdair and Euan grew up, Will introduced them to his love of surfing, biking, skateboarding and a passion for the outdoors.

In May of 2019, Dee and Will received the news that Will had Stage 3 stomach cancer, and they went forward with an aggressive treatment plan with multiple rounds of chemo and radiation, and a fifteen hour surgery. After several periods of optimism following treatment, in April of this year, they received the devastating news that the cancer had progressed, and there was nothing further that could be done. Their one hope was that Will's family in Canada would be able to travel to be with him for a final visit. Will lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday, July 1st, two days before his 45th birthday. He passed peacefully at home with his loving family at his side.
