Support Derek Lorrain's Long Road to Recovery

UPDATE:

Derek underwent his second surgery yesterday(Friday). The doctors were able to repair the front part of his hip and pelvis. This surgery was more difficult than they had anticipated and Derek's body started to react in a negative way to the anesthesia, so after almost 10 hours they had to close him up. The next step is to get the back of his hip and pelvis repaired they are aiming on doing this on Monday. The repais to his elbow/arm will hopefully happen on Wednesday.

Derek is resting at this time and asked me to update you all and thank you for your kindness and generosity.

My name is Pamela Picard. I am Derek Lorrain’s sister. I am here today unfortunately having to create this GoFund me for Derek and his family.

As many of you know Derek was involved in a tragic accident on the beltline in Burlington on January 15th. Derek has very substantial injuries that will take many surgeries and months to recover. This will be a very long process for him and his family.

We are asking for some support from our community at this time. Derek has always been a big part of the New North End community. He has coached little league for many years, as well as his daughters softball team. Co-founded the Burlington High School fishing team. Derek has also been a member of the Colchester Volunteer fire dept for over 20 years. Derek’s greatest accomplishment is being a dedicated father who is always there for his two children Nathan and Elizabeth.

This is very hard on his family and they are taking it day by day. This will be a long and expensive process for them all. We are hoping to help the family get through this tough time so Derek can heal and be back at his children’s sides watching Elizabeth’s games and fishing with his family.
