Support Desmond Hansen's Art Revival

I am an artist by the name Desmond Hansen. Since 2018, I have been painting iconic portraits on the traffic signal boxes around Seattle and surrounding communities. I’ve noticed the positive energy these have brought to the communities they live in.

Over the course of 6 years and 2 successful GoFundMe campaigns, I have been able to paint roughly 75 of them. I took a break from painting and maintaining them in 2023-2024, which resulted in some deterioration and other unfortunate circumstances for the existence of each of these pieces of art individually. This gave me motivation to start another campaign to not only fix and revitalize the existing boxes but also to hopefully paint some new locations that might bring the tally up to 100 locations.

Some of you are surprised to find out that the city itself does not fund these and, in fact, the Dept of Transportation charges me for permits to paint their boxes. In the past, this crowd-sourced funding helps me obtain permits, paint materials, liability insurances, and even sometimes legal representation. I’ve been told many times that this is a great cause for the community to get behind and support because they get to see incremental progress and even sometimes see me in different areas of the city visibly painting these stand-alone art pieces.

My aim with this new and important campaign is to renew the old boxes I’ve painted and paint some all new. I hope you find it in your hearts to donate and/or share this campaign on all your social media channels so I can get to work as soon as possible.
