Support Dewey Hill After Eaton Fire

***UPDATE***
10 February 2025

Due to your generosity, support, and some quick work by a property manager, my son and I have moved out of the motel and into long term housing in the San Gabriel Valley.

I spent Friday hanging out with a bunch of government agencies that we typically avoid (County Works, E.P.A, Army Corp of Engineers, I.R.S and L.A Assessors and others) but, in this case it means a start of a good thing.

Oh, on Sunday we were startled by the loud booms and flashes of fireworks near our new place--a neighbor said it was a Lunar New Year celebration but I’m saying it was a welcoming party for us.

Thank you
Dewey and Chris

I was able to visit my lot a few times: there is nothing salvageable. On the lower right (silver box) is my mailbox with my house numbers on the burnt beam.

Friends, Family, and Acquaintances,

We're coming together to help our friend Dewey Hill who lost his Altadena home in the devastating Eaton fire on January 8th.

I'm Amie and I work with him. Dewey is a humble, down-to-earth, quiet man with a wickedly dry sense of humor who never fails to make me laugh at the end of a long workday. He has worked with our company for just over twenty years and his colleagues describe him as a solid man whose humanistic perspective, and sound wisdom has helped so many do right, get through tough times, and has always been there for others.

Now it's our turn to be there for him.

Dewey once shared that when he moved into his Altadena home thirty years ago, with a newborn baby, he was amazed by the kindness of his elderly neighbor who helped them with their electricity and trimmed overhanging trees without a thought. This kind of "old school" mentality and sense of community is what Dewey is all about. We have no doubt that he will help others before he helps himself during this terrible time.

Donations of any size are greatly appreciated and will go towards unexpected costs, food, clothing, and basic essentials not covered by insurance or any other source of aid. Our goal is to help Dewey and his son tackle the overwhelming task of getting back on their feet within a community that welcomed them with open arms.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity-- on behalf of Dewey and his son, we're incredibly grateful for your support.
