Support Diego's Fight Against Leukemia
Donation protected
On August 7th, Marco Carvajal and Erica Klein received life-altering news. Their amazing 6-year-old son, Diego, has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. AML is a cancer of the white blood cells within the blood and bone marrow. After undergoing extensive testing this week, treatment with chemotherapy will begin right away.
Marco and Erica are Red Hook alumni who started a family in the neighboring town of Germantown. Diego just finished Kindergarten at Germantown Central School.
All who have had the pleasure of meeting Diego are instantly charmed by his infectious giggle, inquisitive mind, and amazing sense of humor. He loves Star Wars, everything Marvel, Legos, and most of all hanging with his friends and family around his pool. He also loves snuggling with his new puppy, Kenobi. He is the sweetest, most compassionate little guy who is a loyal friend to all.
As they navigate this difficult road ahead, they will undoubtedly face financial strain, requiring substantial time off work to be with their son.
Erica is a nurse and has spent her career caring for others, and now needs our help. All donations will be going directly to easing their financial hardships, allowing Marco and Erica to focus solely on Diego’s treatment.
If you ever played on the summer league with Marco or met Diego on the soccer field, please consider helping this beautiful family during the hardest time in their lives. If you have not yet had the pleasure of meeting the Carvajal’s, please know that you are supporting wonderful members of our community. They would be the first to help each and every one of us if we needed them. We know Diego will fight through this with superhuman strength!
