Support Diesel's Fight Against Osteosarcoma

Donation protected
Hello from Diesel's parents, Jacob and Greta! Thank you for taking the time to read about our sweet boy.

Summary if this is too long to read: Diesel has osteosarcoma in his back right leg (now amputated), and after the cost of amputating, we're moving forward with chemotherapy. We are seeking funds to ease our financial burden and allow us to give him the life he deserves. Thank you!

Our dog, Diesel, has had a difficult battle with cancer in his back right leg. In March, he started to limp, and our former vet told us he had a toe sprain. Not convinced with this diagnosis after a month and a half of it continuing, we saw his orthopedic vet from a former surgery. She thought that he had hip dysplasia, so he was x-rayed to confirm. Upon this x-ray, a mass was discovered on his knee. He was biopsied (an expensive $3000 procedure to start) but it came back inconclusive, so the doctors thought he was in the clear / diagnosed him with an infection as he started to heal. He improved and was walking normally again, and we thought we had our dog back. A few months later, only a week after a recheck stated he was on the road to recovery, he started to seriously limp and show that he was in pain. It was quickly discovered that the mass had grown and worsened. We were told he had to lose his leg. After amputating his leg, which was an unfortunate but necessary treatment, he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. Unfortunately, this was not a cheap procedure, costing around $8k. To cover this, we had to use some of Greta's student loans, which we will have to pay back following her graduate school. He has been recovering AMAZINGLY from amputation and is the happiest he's been in what seems like forever. We want to keep our baby happy and healthy and give more years of love and memories. With the official diagnosis of osteosarcoma coming a few weeks after the surgery, we were advised to move forward with chemo, as it extends his life expectancy from four months to likely over two years. We're not hesitating to do this, but our funds to treat him have frankly been exhausted. One of us is a full time student in graduate school, and one is finding their footing after graduating and moving, so we only have so much we can give him right now. We want to give our boy a chance to fight this, and with five $900-1000 chemotherapy treatments coming up, we're looking at an additional $5000. While we hate to have to ask, we know that Diesel has brought a lot of love to the world, and we're hoping that can be shown back to him a bit. He's had a bit of a rough go of it between switching owners and homes, knee surgery, and now a horrible cancer, but he's never stopped being the happy, loving, and devoted dog that he is. To know Diesel is to love Diesel. He's our baby and a part of our family, and with your help, we'll be able to spoil him appropriately for more years to come. Thank you so much for reading, and please consider sharing this fundraiser.
