What We Do
Since September 29, 2024, Dikken has been actively supporting displaced people by:
- Donating fresh, locally-sourced products, purchased with donation funds, to social kitchens serving displaced communities.
- Delivering food baskets primarily made up of locally-produced goods, directly to displaced families in need.
- Subsidizing the cost of local sustainable products and delivering them to social kitchens at reduced prices.
- Providing 50% discount coupons to vulnerable neighbours affected by the war, helping them access essential goods.
About Dikken el Mazraa
Dikken el Mazraa is a solidarity grocery project in Beirut founded in 2020 in the midst of the economic meltdown with the aim of exploring solutions to price inflation and declining access to affordable quality food.
Dikken’s core mission is to make quality food accessible to everyone. We do so through our solidarity pricing model that takes into consideration the customers’ socio-economic situation and the degree to which the crisis had an impact on them. The model is based on cross-subsidization, whereby more vulnerable customers benefit from discounted prices thanks to the profits generated from the customers with higher means.
Dikken also supports local farmers and producers transitioning to more sustainable agroecology practices by offering them direct market access as well as training and technical support. Our delivery system covers all of Beirut.
