Support Diona and Daughter Through Tragedy

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Diona. I'm not exactly sure where to begin. My husband, daughter, and I moved back to San Antonio in 2009 as my parents were aging. My dad was showing signs of dementia. In 2013, my husband was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (PPMS). By 2019, my husband was in a wheelchair and my dad's dementia had deteriorated immensely. My dad went into hospice at home on September 19th, 2019, and passed on September 22nd. He was 85. My mother lived by herself for a year then moved in with us in September 2020. Everything was going smoothly for a while and then she got really sick around January of 2021. She had several major surgeries and was discharged from the hospital in March. We then found out she had pancreatic cancer. She was put in hospice at our home. She passed in October of 2021. I then decided to take a travel job in February of 2022. In June of 2022, I suffered a pulmonary embolism. They performed a Thrombectomy on me and I was discharged on June 21st. On July 21st, I received a call that my sister was found unconscious/unresponsive. She was able to be resuscitated but was unfortunately 'brain-dead'. She had suffered a pulmonary embolism and went into cardiac arrest. They kept her alive until I could get there. We took her off life support on August 1st, 2022.

On May 1st of 2023, my husband of 20 years went into cardiac arrest and passed away unexpectedly. On August 7th of 2023, his mother was found deceased in her apartment.

I lost my entire family in less than 4 years of one another. Needless to say, I have been struggling: physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially. It is just my daughter and I now. She has 'issues' as well. She's 17 and still in high school. Each year of high school, she experienced a close family death. So needless to say, she's struggling. I had finally gotten her into grief counseling and I was going to grief counseling also. Then my car died. I have not been working since March. I had been applying for at least 20 or more jobs in my field and outside of my field.

I have been waiting to start this new job since mid-June. I have had to resubmit the paperwork twice. It's a sub-contract job through the government, so I'm waiting on security clearance. I was supposed to start several weeks ago, BUT it's the government so...

Therefore, I'm several months behind on the mortgage, car insurance, utilities, etc... My car is needing repairs as it's totally dead.

I do get Veterans disability but it's not enough to cover all the expenses and it's too much for assistance. I'm a disabled Vet due to my knees. I need a double knee replacement but I'm trying to put that off as long as possible.

I never thought I would be in this position at this stage of my life. Losing my husband was like someone taking the air I breathe from me. At this point, in order for me not to lose my home, I feel I have no other recourse than to do a GoFundMe. This was actually my daughter's idea. I really didn't want to put 'my business' out here but as my husband used to say, 'Closed mouths don't get fed'.

I'm also waiting to hear from other job resources. I will also continue to hold on to my faith.

Psalm 22:19 (NIV)

“But you, Lord, do not be far from me. You are my strength; come quickly to help me.”
