Support Don for cancer treatment
Donation protected
As many people know already, Don had to have surgery almost 3 weeks ago. What you might not know is that it was to remove a cancerous mass. At age 29, we were shocked & scared to receive a cancer diagnosis. He was out of work for 2 weeks and is on light duty now as he has been instructed not to lift anything more than 20lbs for 6 weeks to avoid a secondary hernia. In addition to lost wages, there are many bills for specialist visits, imaging, and of course surgery. We will be meeting with a medical oncologist (cancer doctor) soon to make our game plan for chemotherapy. We are in a difficult situation and are hoping we can lean on our friends and family for support.
According to the American Cancer Society, testicular cancer is not common and the average age of diagnosis is 33 years old. Don and I hope to be advocates for awareness about this type of cancer and are planning to get involved with the community to urge men to do regular self checks. This can increase the chances of detecting this type of cancer early. Please urge your friends and family to see a healthcare professional if there is ANY concern as early detection yields the best outcomes.
