Support Donna Camp Mitts' Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Aloha Friends and Family,

I have started this page in order to aid in raising money for the recovery of our dear friend Donna Camp Mitts. If you live on the Hamakua Coast, you have probably been lucky enough to have crossed paths with her at some point; a brilliant farmer, gardener, teacher, business owner, friend, and mother. She has been a face of organic farming in this community for over 30 years, not to mention helping to bring gardening back to our public schools.

I have personally known and loved Donna for most of my life. She has been a boss, friend, and neighbor to me and I just want to be able to help her on this road to recovery.

For those of you who don’t know, Donna went to O’ahu for surgery on June 7th. She had two benign masses growing between her skull and her brain lining. As scary as that sounds, Donna went in bravely and with a positive attitude. It was supposed to be a four-day hospital stay and one month off of work. Well, here we are, six weeks later. She’s still hospitalized in O’ahu. She’s had some pretty major unforeseen complications. And following the surgery that ended up being 18 hours long, her recovery has been anything but easy. Donna has advocates working for her to get the care she needs to recover and come home; but no one was able to foresee the absolute severity of the aftermath of this surgery.

Donna went into this as a strong and healthy lady, and now she needs our help on her fight back to health.

All funds that are raised will go directly to Donna and her son Michael and her family to help cushion the expenses that are adding up as she recovers. Thank you for reading, sharing, and helping to get our friend back home.
