Support Donna Weiss battling cancer

"Just rest, I love you." These are the most comforting words I can say to my sister-in-law, Donna, as she fights for her life. On Sunday, July 9th, just two days before her 53rd birthday, Donna was brought to the emergency room in Cambridge MN, due to severe stomach pain. She underwent a CT scan, ultrasound and biopsy. Then, on July 13th, an Oncologist's words changed our family's lives-Stage 4 Adenocarcinoma. Two tumors, one on her liver and one on her esophagus.
Terrified and exhausted, Donna returned home, her body wracked with excruciating pain. Donna and her husband Dave (my brother), sought a second opinion. Nearly a month later, on August 24th, they were able to get appointments at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN. Again, the Oncologist delivered devesting news-this cancer is aggressive and is spreading. A prognosis of just one year left us all gasping for breath, our hearts shattered into a million pieces.
Then, life threw another blow at them. Dave lost his job at Holland Freight, a subsidiary of Yellow Trucking, just two weeks after Donna's devastating diagnosis. This added a financial burden to the already terrible situation. Dave is still currently unemployed as he is caring for Donna around the clock.
Cancer has already claimed so much from Donna's family. Her mother, father and brother have all lost their lives to this disease. Despite that, her spirit remains unbroken. Their three daughters, Alexa, Allison and Amber, as well as other family and friends joined the battle..
doing their utmost to provide support, but the emotional and financial toll is overwhelming.
Donna has such a remarkable soul and huge heart. She has always supported others, even if she didn't know them personally. She once organized a fundraiser for a family friend in need after a terrible accident. Her kindness and generosity knows no bounds, and now it is our turn to to rally for her. We're in desperate need of inspirational stories, advise, words of encouragement and monetary donations. Anything you can offer to help during this difficult time is sincerely appreciated. Even just sharing Donna's story will help tremendously.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Donna Weiss and family
